Day by day
The route
Day 1 — Reykjavík
Gear check and a hearty dinner.
Day 2 — Landmannalaugar to Hrafntinnusker
12 km, steady climb through steaming fields.
Day 3 — To Álftavatn
12 km, the most dramatic descent of the trek.
Day 4 — To Emstrur
15 km across black ash deserts and two river crossings.
Day 5 — To Þórsmörk
15 km into the green valley of Thor.
Day 6 — Rest day
Short hikes or a long sauna.
Day 7 — Home
Super jeep back to Reykjavík.
