Landmannalaugar to Jökulsárlón
South Coast & Highlands
Our signature route: from Reykjavík into the rhyolite mountains of Landmannalaugar, down to Vík and east to the glacier lagoon. Day hikes, river crossings, midnight sun.
Day by day
The route
Day 1 — Reykjavík
Arrival, gear check and a welcome dinner by the harbour.
Day 2 — Into the highlands
F-roads and river crossings to Landmannalaugar. Evening soak in the natural hot river.
Day 3 — Rhyolite ridges
A 5-hour loop over Brennisteinsalda and the obsidian lava field.
Day 4 — Down to Vík
Back to the coast via Eldgjá canyon. Dinner in a fishing village.
Day 5 — Skaftafell
Glacier walk on Svínafellsjökull with crampons and a mountain guide.
Day 6 — Jökulsárlón
Icebergs at sunrise, Diamond Beach at low tide.
Day 7 — Slow return
Hidden waterfalls on the way back west.
Day 8 — Home
Breakfast and transfer.
